Matchday 12 has concluded, and the Premier League table looks different. Liverpool holds top position in the table with a narrow win over Southampton, while Spurs add to City’s woes with a dominant 4-0 win. The top four battle remains tight with Chelsea, Arsenal and Brighton all picking up three points. Wolverhampton climbed out of the relegation zone with a dominant 4-1 win over Fulham.

Here are our Premier League Power Rankings heading into Match Day 13.

Liverpool FC
Liverpool have continued their fantastic start to the 2024/2025 campaign with a win this weekend against Southampton. In the league, they have the best defensive record, having conceded only eight goals, and the second-best attacking output with 24 goals scored.

2. Chelsea FC
Chelsea have surprised a lot of people with their start to the season. Maresca has trimmed his squad down and we are now seeing the best from players like Nicolas Jackson and Moises Caicedo. Unbeaten in four games, the Blues are looking very strong right now.

3. Brighton & Hove Albion
Brighton & Hove Albion sit 5th in the table, but they have been very exciting to watch this season under Fabian Hürzeler. With wins over Manchester United, Spurs, Newcastle and Manchester City, they sit 3rd in our rankings.

4. Arsenal FC
Arsenal did not have the start to the season they would have liked with many lineup changes due to suspensions and injuries. They are nine points off first place, but now with most of their squad available, the Gunners will look to gain some momentum after a 3-0 victory this weekend.

5. Manchester City
Losing the recent Ballon D’Or winner, Rodri, was always going to be a huge loss for Pep Guardiola. However, losing five games in a row is shocking and something Pep has never faced before. After an abysmal performance against Spurs, City will need to find themselves again ahead of a season defining match away to Liverpool next match day.

6. Tottenham Hotspur
Spurs have had an inconsistent start to the campaign, but with two massive victories in Manchester already this season, they will hope to build momentum ahead of the festive period. We have not seen a team dominate Pep’s City teams at the Etihad the way Spurs did this weekend. With the attacking talent they have, Spurs can roll over teams if they find a way to fix their defensive inconsistencies.

7. Newcastle United
After a disappointing campaign last year not qualifying for European football, Newcastle have picked up some impressive results this season by taking points from Spurs, City, Arsenal and Forest. When healthy, Gordon and Isak are a dangerous duo who can cause any team in the league problems. They have the third best defensive record in the league conceding only 13 goals despite not having Sven Botman at all this season.

8. Nottingham Forest
Nottingham Forest have shocked everyone this season through twelve games. They remain the only team to have defeated Liverpool, and they did so at Anfield. Chris Wood has led the attack brilliantly scoring eight goals and picking up the Premier League Player of the Month award for October.

9. Aston Villa
Aston Villa have had a tough run of games lately and find themselves winless in six games. The balance between Champions League and league action is always tough for clubs outside the “Big 6”, as Newcastle found out last year. With Chelsea coming up next in the league, it doesn’t get any easier.

10. Fulham FC
Fulham have been solid this season and find themselves 9th in the league table. They have put in strong performances this season and the signing of Emile Smith Rowe has helped their attacking play. The London side are still prone to defensive errors and a 4-1 thumping at home to Wolves is a concern. Their next four games are against Spurs, Brighton, Arsenal and Liverpool so they will need to sort out their defensive problems.

11. AFC Bournemouth
After defeating Manchester City at the start of the month, Bournemouth have suffered back-to-back defeats. However, this season they have also taken points from Newcastle, Arsenal, and Villa. Evanilson has found form, scoring four goals after his move from FC Porto.

12. Brentford FC
Brentford have managed to cope with the demands of the Premier League even after selling Ivan Toney in the summer. Bryan Mbuemo has stepped up nicely with eight goals so far. They earned a good point at Goodison Park while down to ten men.

13. Manchester United
After winning the FA Cup, INEOS leadership decided to keep Erik Ten Hag as the manager of Manchester United and that decision has turned out to be the wrong one. After enduring the club’s worst ever start to a Premier League campaign, Ten Hag was replaced with Ruben Amorim. United failed to get a victory away to Ipswich, but there were positives to take away given Amorim’s ideas about the development of the team.

14. West Ham United
West Ham had one of the best transfer windows in the Premier League, but it hasn’t translated to the pitch yet. The Hammers have been very inconsistent with big wins being followed by big defeats. After an impressive 2-0 victory at St. James Park, they host Arsenal and a result there could help build momentum ahead of the festive period.

15. Wolverhampton Wanderers
Although Wolves have spent large parts of the season in the relegation zone, they have been very competitive with top teams like Manchester City and Liverpool. Now after a tough schedule they are unbeaten in four games and have won back-to-back games to lift themselves out of the relegation zone.

16. Everton FC
Everton find themselves 15th in the league table. They would like to be higher up the table as remaining in the Premier League is vital financially given the building of their new stadium. They are currently doing the job, but they will need to start scoring goals if they want to be safe. Failure to score against 10 men is worrying; even more so considering their upcoming schedule. There is reason to be concerned where they might be in the table come the new year.

17. Ipswich Town FC
After defeating Spurs and picking up a point against Manchester United, it seems as though Ipswich Town FC are starting to find their feet back in the Premier League. Five points from a possible nine is great, but they remain in the relegation zone. Still without a home win, they will need to make Portman Road a fortress to stay up.

18. Leicester City
The former Premier League champions are in a tough position. They find themselves 16th in the league table which is great. However, relying heavily on late goals and overturning deficits is not a great recipe for staying up in the league. The Foxes decided to part ways with Steve Cooper after just 12 games. Whoever comes in will have a big job in front of them to keep the team up.

19. Crystal Palace
Expectations for the Eagles were huge after a fantastic start to life under Oliver Glasner at the end of last season. However, after selling Michael Olise in the summer to Bayern Munich, Palace have struggled greatly. They have only scored ten goals in the league and find themselves 19th in the table. Injuries have not helped as they have been without Wharton and Eze for the past month. Eze is due to return for their next game and they will need him to lift them out of the relegation zone.

20. Southampton FC
Southampton have endured a terrible start to the season after promotion last year. Through twelve games they have one win, one draw and ten losses. They have scored just nine goals and conceded twenty-four. They put up a respectable performance against Liverpool, but once again all three goals they conceded were self inflicted which has become a regular occurrence this season. Their next four games are against sides in the top half of the table, so they may need to wait a while for their next league win.
